STC (Sound Transmission Class), is a numerical rating of how effective a material is at blocking the transmission of sound through itself. This rating generally applies to hard materials like rubberized sound barriers, concrete, brick and drywall but also applies to a much lesser degree to softer materials like mineral fiber (although it isn’t tested by itself; it’s tested as part of a wall system to verify its effectiveness).

How To Install Self-Adhesive Acoustic Panel Step by Step

Follow the guidelines below to install acoustic panels to your walls step by step.

Step 1: Restore Vacuumed Acoustical Treatment Foam

Follow the instruction in this video to extract the acoustic foam

Step 2: Locate the Acoustic Foam For Outline

Lay the Foam out for your specific application. Keep in mind that you want the foam evenly distributed throughout the room.

Step 3: Mark & Resize the Acoustic Foam To Best Fit

Measure the designated areas that need to be field cut on the foam and make the appropriate cuts (examples would be around beams, doorways, or if a short piece is needed). After all the pieces have been field cut, put the material back in the appropriate position on the wall or ceiling and lightly mark the bottom and side of where each piece will be lightly with a pencil to ensure straight application.

Step 4: Remove The Adhesive Paper And Stick The Acoustic Foam

Slowly peel off the adhesive paper and hang the insulation mat on the designated surface. Once you peel off the sticker, the Acoustic foam should easily stick to the surface of your choice. Remove all the air bubbles from underneath by flattening them with your hands.

Step 5: Hang the Acoustic Foam With The Marked Line

Line up the materials on marked lines from Step 3 and press firmly against the material compressing the foam. Repeat step for remaining pieces of foam.

These are AWESOME! It did the job brilliantly in conjunction with other acoustic treatment in my studio.

it was easy to apply

I liked the product because it was easy to apply to the wall and really looks "nice." I would recommend this product to those of you who have "gamer" sons and want to alleviate some of the noise.

Would recommend for a cost-effective sound solution

Exactly what I needed to give my studio professional sound quality. Also fairly easy to install, I suggest using t-pins either 1.5in or 2in. Overall very happy with it.

Great foam overall

Used command strips to adhere to a bedroom door and worked great.
Blocks out almost all the sounds, but more than enough to get some good sleep.

Good quality and value

Bought 4 packs for the ceiling / wall corners of a home music and recording studio with wood floor. The room is much more neutral, flatter sounding with the panels. Not a huge difference but noticeable. They were very consistent in size, color and texture. Installed using a staple gun in minutes (after some practice to fire staple perfectly between the ridges!). Good value -- I may order more.
