The angled oakwood slats break incoming sound from 200 Hz to 5 kHz and tilt the scatter pattern off-axis — so first reflections steer away from the mix position instead of bouncing straight back.

Diffuse PRO Diagonal is a directional absorber + diffuser. It reduces echo inside a room and breaks up flutter reflections, with the scatter pattern tilted off-axis by the diagonal slat geometry. It does not block sound transmission through a wall.

Lay panels on the floor. Alternate slat direction (one panel angled one way, the next mirrored) for a chevron pattern, or keep them parallel for unified motion.

Choose your mount

Construction adhesive for permanent installs. Heavy-duty 3M Command strips or Z-clips for rental-friendly mounting (panel weight is 2.2 lb / 1.05 kg each).

Mount the panels

Press firmly for 30 seconds. Start at the top of the layout and work down. Use a level for grid alignment so the diagonal pattern reads cleanly.

Frequently asked questions

What does "directional" diffusion actually mean?
A symmetric panel scatters sound roughly evenly in every direction. The diagonal slats on KK1308 are asymmetric — they tilt the scatter pattern off the perpendicular axis. In a mixing room, that means you can aim the first reflection away from your head instead of bouncing it back. Same NRC as the square Diffuse PRO, different geometry, different job.
How is this different from the standard Diffuse PRO (KK1247)?
Same NRC (0.64), same scattering range (200 Hz – 5 kHz), same materials, same fire class. The only difference is the slat geometry — KK1247 is symmetric, KK1308 is diagonal/directional. Pick KK1308 for first-reflection-point treatment in asymmetric rooms, mixing positions, or anywhere the room shape isn't a perfect rectangle.
Will this block noise from my neighbor or the street?
No. Diffuse PRO Diagonal is an absorber + diffuser. It reduces echo and breaks up reflections inside a room. Blocking noise through a wall requires mass — extra drywall, mass-loaded vinyl, or a sealed door. Anyone selling a 2-inch foam panel as "soundproofing" is misleading you.
How many panels do I need?
For most home studios and offices, cover 20–30% of reflective wall area. Rough guide: small booth or office (8 × 10 ft / 2.4 × 3 m) → 6–12 panels. Mid-size studio or restaurant section → 12–24 panels. Auditorium or large room → 24+ panels (multiple packs). For mixing rooms, prioritize panels at the side-wall first-reflection points before filling out the rest of the room.
Is the wood face real oak?
The face is laminated MDF with oakwood veneer — same construction used in commercial acoustic panels and high-end furniture. Solid oak at this diagonal slat thickness would crack and cost 5× more. Veneer gives the same look at a usable weight and price.
Can I install this myself? What about rentals?
Yes. Each panel is 2.2 lb / 1.05 kg. For permanent installs, construction adhesive or screws into wall anchors. For rentals, heavy-duty 3M Command strips rated for 4–5 lb each panel, or Z-clip brackets that lift on and off. Mounting hardware is sold separately so you can match the wall.
