Why most "foam tape" fails

Generic mounting tape is built for posters and picture frames. Press it on acoustic foam and one of two things happens: it grips so hard it rips the foam in half when you reposition, or it gives up after a week and your panel slides down the wall at 2 a.m. The KK1207 adhesive sits in the middle on purpose — strong enough to hold a 2" foam panel indefinitely, soft enough to release the foam intact.

How many do you need? Use 2 tabs per 12" foam panel, 4 tabs per 24" panel, 6 tabs per bass trap. One pack of 24 mounts roughly 12 standard 12" panels or 6 large panels.

Why we're different from a roll of mounting tape

Technical reference — STC, NRC, and what tape actually does

Two acoustic numbers matter for room treatment:

• NRC (Noise Reduction Coefficient): how much sound a material absorbs. Premium 1–2" acoustic foam typically falls between NRC 0.70 and 0.95. Higher = better absorption of reflections, flutter echo, and room mode buildup.
• STC (Sound Transmission Class): how much sound a wall assembly blocks from one room to the next. STC is a property of the full wall (studs, drywall, insulation), not of individual products mounted to it.

Honest answer: mounting tape has no STC rating because tape is not a wall assembly. What the KK1207 does is keep your foam flush and stable on the surface so the foam's NRC actually works. Foam that falls off the wall absorbs nothing.
